Display, and carousel of the icons

Watch 3 is presented with a nice 1.43 -inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 466 × 466 pixels and density of 326 ppi.The display, touchscreen, allows you to interact with a tap, with a long pressure, with swipe, just like a cell phone panel. The first two (pleasant) novelties are represented by the digital crown and by the approach of the icon carousel. The first was placed as a main side button and is a touch sensitive button that allows you to slide the voices of the menu, but also to zoom in and zoom out from the main icon screen.Icons that are visually and physically reachable in a single screen. From the latter you can select with a tap on the screen, move, scroll or manage even from the digital crown.A second side button, on the other hand, placed lower, is dedicated to the favorite function (we have set the detection of the heartbeat, so as to always reach it with a single pressure).

Under the case we find the sensor, which is enriched with a sensor capable of measuring the skin temperature.

E-Sim Stand Alone

Another novelty of Watch 3 is the presence of an E-Sim that makes the smartwatch independent of the phone in all respects, allows you to make and receive phone calls by exploiting the speaker and microphone on the case, and to carry out data traffic. At the moment, in Italy only TIM supports the Stand Alone Esim on the whole Huawei Watch 3 Series. You can activate it by contacting a TIM shop.E-Sim does not support SMS for now.

AppGallery on Watch 3

Among the native icons you will also find that of App Gallery, the Huawei content and services store that has in Italy 12.000 titles in 18 different categories.By connecting the watch to the wifi or using the connectivity of the SIM you can download your favorite applications, so as to have them always available on the wrist. The operations are a little slower than those that are carried out on a smartphone, but allow you to enrich the Watch 3 of further content.

And, speaking of apps, the clock connects to the tested Health App, from which you can read the information collected, change Faces, buy paid, update the device and keep track of all measurements. The Faces (also those of default) are among other things very well designed and inside them contain interactive icons and buttons capable of launching different functions.

GPS

Watch 3 integrates a two -channel GPS, which ensures excellent precision.Supports the satellites of the GPS, Glonass, Galileo, Beidu and Qzss network. Also in this sense it is completely independent of the phone. You can do physical activity and download the synchronize the data of your movements once you return to the base.

Also on the front of the detection of data relating to its physical activity and the state of health, there are over 100 professional locks, the monitoring of the heartbeat and the SpO2 (the percentage of blood oxygenation), the stress and the status of thesleep in its different phases (Rem, deep, light and continuity of the different phases).

Autonomy

It is the real test of all devices. The manufacturer declares 3 days in 4G (therefore with the E-Sim) and 14 days with the super energy saving, which however inhibits many of the functions of the clock. We as always, we used Watch 3 leaving all the main functions active and we reached 5 days, without really saving any operation.A good result, considering the battery power (450 mAh), the presence of the new OS and the many interactions introduced.

Positive notes also for charging. In the package there is a wireless charging base that completely recharges the Watch 3 in the time of about 1 hour.

Judgment on Watch 3

Overall this Watch 3 we liked very much, so much so that our Award assigned him.Shapes and design are pleasant, the weight (54 grams plus the strap) has never been a problem so much that the clock is also worn at night without annoyance. The new arrangement of the icons is intuitive and vertical scrolling is left to the settings and submenu, while all the most important things are always just a click away.

There is a good level of customization that we wanted to show you in the video and that allows you to set the clock according to your lifestyle or the functions most used along the day.

Among the shortcomings we point out the absence of the NFC so ... no electronic payments with the clock. The monitoring of the SpO2 (the oxygenation of the blood) and the skin temperature is very useful. Finally, another function of extreme utility is the detection of falls with the possibility of sending a SOS.
