OnePlus launches a special version of OnePlus Nord 2 dedicated to Pac-Man, the legendary arcade game from the 80s. The smartphone has been modified in its design and also in the software to become a real tribute to the hungry smiley. We have tried it these days and we can confirm that it is a very nice and fun device, built on the solid foundation of the OnePlus Nord 2.
Since the packaging of OnePlus Nord 2 X Pac-Man Edition it is understood that it is a special edition (limited, even if with large numbers), the package is printed with a Pac-Man theme and contains the 65 Watt power supply, the charging cable and an artistic cover designed on several levels: the background is a 3D labyrinth, while on the surface the original logo of the game "floats" a revisited OnePlus logo, as well as obviously to Pac-Man and the colored ghosts.
The same concept of multi-level graphics is taken up for the glass body of the smartphone, which is truly stunning. At the bottom you can see a texture that recalls the walls within which the game levels of Pac-Man wind in 3 dimensions with also the square OnePlus logo, more on the surface a chrome dotted texture, the yellow smiley and the writing ONEPLUS X PAC -MAN near the photo module.
The original peculiarity is given by the deepest level with the labyrinth which is phosphorescent and lights up in the dark. OnePlus Nord 2 X Pac-Man is produced in the only pale blue color and incorporates the features and materials of the original OnePlus Nord 2.
The rear shell and the front glass are therefore in Gorilla Glass 5 glass, while the frame is in plastic, there is no certification of resistance to water and dust.

As already highlighted during the OnePlus Nord 2 test, it is a smartphone with the right dimensions (especially the width), it is not too heavy and it grips very well compared to the average smartphone that are launched lately. The front glass is flat, while the body is slightly curved on the edges, making it even easier to grip. Certainly the excellent quality of the cover supplied in the package should be mentioned, which is not the usual soft TPU destined to turn yellow within a few weeks.
PHONE HOLDER TO BE BUILT
By purchasing OnePlus Nord 2 x Pac-Man Edition from the official OnePlus website, you will have a nice phone holder as a gift to be built with Lego-style bricks.
Two of the bricks have "GO TO PERFECT" printed on them, a clear clue (along with what's written on the enclosed instructions) as to how to unlock the final easter egg of Pac-Man's journey across the universe by OnePlus, a 4-stage game hidden inside the system.
OnePlus Nord 2 X Pac-Man Edition shares the technical data sheet with the standard version of OnePlus Nord 2, but is marketed in the single memory cut with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage space. The processor is the excellent Mediatek Dimensity 1200 AI, intended exclusively for OnePlus Nord, with particular customization on performance and consumption management.
We could define it as mid-range hardware that looks up, not only for the processor but for the general completeness of the entire technical sector. On the special edition dedicated to Pac-Man there is a lot of storage space and an exaggerated amount of RAM, certainly not fundamental characteristics but which go well within a limited series context.
These characteristics are reflected in an always pleasant and reliable 360-degree user experience, from never fluctuating performance to the telephone part, passing through a satisfactory multimedia sector. We have defined OnePlus Nord 2 "the right smartphone for many" and here we can only underline the concept: it is a product that covers all needs very well, thanks to the right specifications in the key points and to OxygenOS, now even richer after the merger with OPPO's ColorOS.
The autonomy is also good, capable of always bringing the user into the evening and never in trouble even on the most stressful days, without forgetting the very fast recharge (0-100% in 35 minutes) which becomes very useful. The photographic sector relies on the Sony IMX 766 sensor, which we have already spoken very well of in the OnePlus Nord 2 review, it is a higher-end sensor and consequently the photos that this device can take have always turned out to be all height of the situation, among the best in the mid-range.

OnePlus has not limited itself to the aesthetic part of OnePlus Nord 2 X Pac-Man Edition, but has also modified the software by adding numerous elements taken from the game or in honor of it.
Wallpapers, icons, sounds, animations, notification curtain graphics and other elements to unlock through 4 easter eggs that correspond to the 4 phases of an ideal Pac-Man journey in the OnePlus universe. The user is therefore invited from the initial configuration to discover the surprises hidden within the system, the last one is the most complex and refers to a very precise (and known) 7-digit number linked to the original Pac-Man game.
The system also comes pre-installed with the Pac-Man 256 game developed by Bandai Namco, which reinterprets the 8-bit universe of Pac-Man in a three-dimensional key. PS: by playing the title you can unlock two of the easter eggs!
OnePlus Nord 2 X Pac-Man Edition is offered in the single 12/256 GB memory cut for 529 Euros, 30 more than OnePlus Nord 2 with the same memory cut, which are absolutely considering us that it is a limited and very special edition.
OnePlus Nord 2 5G
The idea is very nice and we liked the smartphone as much as its namesake in the standard version. Of course, if you are not a huge Pac-Man fan and you are not interested in having a few more decorations on the design, then the OnePlus Nord 2 remains a very valid option and allows you to save a lot, especially in the 128 GB internal memory version.
