Due to Apple's stringent rules, it is impossible for iPhone users to find antivirus in the App Store, but those who have the device updated to iOS 12 and later versions will finally be able to download an application capable of identifying a possible violation of the device. It is iVerify: created by Trail of Bits, it is not an antivirus, but a scanner that analyzes all the elements to check if the iPhone has been hacked. The peculiarity of iVerify, which costs € 5.49, consists precisely in having access to all the data on the device: so far Apple had always banned the applications that acted in this way, partly also to preserve and highlight its ability to keep its devices safe.

The different Apple operating systems enjoy a lot of credit due to their functioning: the applications are executed in the so-called sandbox mode, that is, as if they were in quarantine. In this way, each app acts separately from the others and therefore does not have the possibility to access the information contained within them. When it comes to security, the Californian company is at the forefront and does not do it only in words: the functioning of iOS is very different from Android. On the iPhone, for example, applications cannot be installed outside the App Store, unless the device has been jailbroken. The logic behind this choice lies precisely in making sure that user data is protected: what is downloaded from the App Store is subsequently performed in sandbox, but the same operation would not be guaranteed by downloading from unofficial stores.

iVerify, l’unica app per iPhone e iPad in grado di rivelare se il proprio dispositivo è stato hackerato

In Cupertino they are aware that many users rely on jailbreak and perhaps it is also for this reason that they have granted Trail of Bits the possibility to create iVerify. The latter, in fact, not only identifies the anomalies due to a hacker attack, but also the malfunctions caused by the jailbreak. If there was indeed anything unusual, the app would be able to provide advice to the user to resolve the situation, as announced on its site.
